This term is also used in other spheres. Because literally, it means “free style.” In music, freestyle is an improvised performance, usually in the rap genre, when the performer rhymes without a prepared text. This often happens “on the beat” — to music, or a cappella.
Freestyle or fristyle? What is correct in Ukrainian?
The word freestyle is borrowed from the English freestyle. In the Ukrainian language, when transliterating, the prefix free- is usually conveyed as фри-, not фрі-. This corresponds to the current spelling norms for similar borrowings.
